April 7, 2012 at Olentangy Liberty High School
Dear People of the world,
If you saw Luke Torres on the street, you would think he’s a normal eight-year-old boy. His favorite color is orange and he loves Star Wars because the “good guys” win in the end. His older sister Abby is his best friend. What you wouldn’t know is at the age of seven, Luke was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). He had a tumor the size of a football wrapped around his heart and lungs. Due to this Luke could not be put under anesthesia when a port was placed in his chest so he could receive his chemotherapy treatment. However, thanks to Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Luke is on his way to beating this disease.
We have decided to take a step towards conquering pediatric cancer by joining Patri-a-thon, Olentangy Liberty High School’s first dance marathon through Ohio State University’s BuckeyeThon. Our mission is to financially and emotionally support children, like Luke, on the Oncology/Hematology floor at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Our dance marathon will take place on April 7, 2012 from 5:30pm to 11:30pm. By participating in this event, we pledge to help raise our group goal of $10,000 and stand for 6 hours for those who can’t.
You can make a tax-deductible donation at
