2021 CMN Day of Giving

Dear Friends,

Each year, KGET TV-17, Telemundo, 96.9 La Caliente, and this year, 96.1 KERN Radio host the annual Children's Miracle Network Day of Giving to help sick or injured kids at the Lauren Small Children's Center at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital.

We invite you to be part of the miraculous, life-saving work that the brave doctors and nurses at Memorial continue to do every day to help local kids right here in Kern County.

Collectively, we have set a goal to raise $15,000 before the December 8th Children's Miracle Network Day of Giving to help kids like Faith Carter, Morgan Mumby, and Aaliyah Rodriguez - this year’s local Children’s Miracle Network Ambassadors!

Faith spent almost a month in the Pediatric ICU struggling to breathe because of the COVID-19 virus.  Her mother also had COVID and was unable to be with her while hospitalized. Faith’s nurses encouraged her to fight for her life.   Faith is now home and back to being a normal high school senior.  Because of the excellent care she received at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital, Faith was inspired to be a Child Life Specialist so that she can help support the mental health of hospitalized children.

About a month after Morgan recovered from COVID-19, she got sick again and had a persistent fever.  She was rushed to Bakersfield Memorial Hospital when her heart function had dropped dangerously low.  Morgan had MIS-C (Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children), a rare but serious condition associated with COVID-19.  Morgan spent 10 days in the Pediatric ICU, but was able to go home just days before Christmas last year.

Baby Aaliyah was born at just 23 weeks gestation - 4 months early.  She weighed just one pound, three ounces and spent the first 171 days of her life in the Neonatal ICU.  From day one, Aaliyah was a fighter.  She overcame a lot while in the NICU, but after nearly 6 months, she was finally able to go home.  Aaliyah is a true miracle baby.

Any contribution will help local kids like Faith, Morgan, and Baby Aaliyah get the care they need and deserve, right here in Kern County.  And, all donations STAY LOCAL and are tax deductible.

Will you help us reach our goal?
