Derby Darling 2015
Derby Days is a weeklong philanthropic event that promotes unity among the Greek community at the University of Maryland, while raising money for Children's Miracle Network, the national philanthopy of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. With the hard work and fundraising efforts of the active brotherhood, alumni and our sorority participants, in addition to our generous sponsors, we have successfully raised $75,000 for Children's Miracle Network since Derby Days' rebirth in 2011.
Children's Miracle Network Hospitals are dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for 170 children's hospitals. Together, Children's Miracle Network Hospitals creates one of the strongest international children's causes in the world and provides state-of-the-art care to all children. No other organization directly impacts as many children through the best care, research, and outreach programs. Locally, Children's Miracle Network funds Children's National Hospital Center of Washington D.C.
This year our goal is $30,000. If accomplished, it will mark the largest single year donation to Children’s Miracle Network in Sigma Chi’s history here at the University of Maryland. We've expanded our fundraising efforts into the spring and summer through the creation of our Derby Dash 5K For the Kids and upcoming silent auction and have been hard at work to ensure that our marketing and promotional strategies are in place to make Derby Days 2015 the best to date.
