Bears of Love is grateful to join Finn’s Fierce Fight to advance diffuse intrinsic pontine gliomas (DIPG) research efforts at Children’s National Hospital in honor of Finn Cusick.

Finn is a caring, thoughtful boy. He has a fierce love for his family and friends. He always stands up for what is right and will tell you if he doesn't agree with something. He is a jokester and often pokes fun at his parents. His laugh is infectious, and we could listen to it all day. He loves creating, building, and inventing with any supplies he can find. He loves baseball and all things Minecraft (of course). He has been an absolute joy for the last 9 years he has been in our lives.

On November 16, 2022, Finn was diagnosed with DIPG, a rare and aggressive brain tumor that mostly affects children. It is inoperable and there is no cure…yet.

Donations will advance cutting-edge research to help find effective non-invasive therapies and improve treatment for children with DIPG by accelerating the liquid biopsy research initiative.

Liquid biopsy is a noninvasive method for detecting tumor biomarkers obtained from children diagnosed with brain tumors. It is used as a screening tool for diagnosis and response to therapy for pediatric brain tumors. Liquid biopsies could help neuro-oncologists avoid invasive and damaging tissue biopsies while providing greater precision in monitoring a tumor’s growth and response to treatment when used with magnetic resonance imaging.

Moving this DIPG discovery from the laboratory bench to the patient bedside is crucial, and your support will fuel the team’s ability to advance this very exciting breakthrough. Children’s National is dedicated to making more treatment options a reality for families facing a DIPG diagnosis.

Every day, patients like Finn show determination and heart in the face of challenging illness. He doesn't deserve this... none of these kids do. We are going to fight with all we have.

Thank you for helping us advance care for children diagnosed with DIPG!
