Play Yellow Family Golf Day is an opportunity for golf facilities and players to come together and raise funds for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. A flexible event that allows courses across the country to activate easily and with purpose, Family Golf Day encourages local facilities to set aside a day to raise money for their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. Golfers register to participate at their course’s Family Golf Day event and commit to raising money by inviting friends and family to golf and/or donate. Additionally, golf courses can raise funds by selling paper balloons, adding a flat fee to greens fees for the day, or adding a link to their team fundraising page to collect donations.
In the late ’60’s, Jack and Barbara Nicklaus had a family friend named Craig Smith. Craig was stricken by Ewing’s sarcoma as a young teenager. As he battled the disease, Jack and Barbara looked to support Craig and his family in many ways. One way, in particular, was for Jack to wear a shirt in Craig’s favorite color, yellow, which Craig said brought Jack luck from week to week. Over the years, Jack could be seen wearing yellow on tournament Sundays and major Sundays in particular.
Who can forget Sunday of the 1986 Masters?
Inspired by Jack and Craig’s relationship, Play Yellow, with the partnership of many, strives to raise $100 million over the next five years, in which all funds will benefit Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and their patients.
Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals® raises funds for 170 children’s hospitals that support the health of 10 million kids each year across the U.S. and Canada. Donations go to local hospitals to fund critical life-saving treatments and healthcare services, along with innovative research, vital pediatric medical equipment, child life services that put kids’ and families’ minds at ease during difficult hospital stays and financial assistance for families who could not otherwise afford these health services. When we improve the health of all children and allow them the opportunity to reach their full potential, we also improve our communities for years to come. Together, we can change kids’ health. Together, we can change the future.
